NMT has given me back my life.

I was diagnosed with Wegener's granulomatosis my senior year of high school at age 16 in February 2003, it is a life-threatening vasculitis autoimmune disorder. After six months of test after test after test and open lung surgery for a biopsy of one of the tumors to find out why my lungs were filling with granulomas, I was put on chemotherapy and high doses of prednisone for 2 1/2 years. I was in and out of doctors offices in the hospital during that time.

Once we thought we had overcome the Wegener's granulomatosis, ulcerative colitis kicked in hard within two months with extreme pain and bloody diarrhea approximately 20 times a day. I was afraid to leave the house for fear I would not be able to make it to a bathroom. More tests and hospital stays followed the next two years with more high doses of prednisone and autoimmune suppressants. In June of 2007, I was admitted to the hospital for two days of "pain management" that turned into two weeks. They couldn't give me prednisone anymore because it was starting to affect my eyesight so they put me on something even stronger that is given by IV only. I spent the next two weeks hooked up to IV treatments of solv-medrol and dilauded (synthetic heroin) with doses of Vicodin in between. Once I was released from the hospital and got through withdrawal from all the strong drugs, I had to return every six to eight weeks for a four hour treatment of Remicade given by infusion only (side effect lymphoma).

When my mom heard and learned about NMT, she made an appointment with Sal Aleguas for a series of treatments. After my first appointment and when we were on our way for the second I realized I had forgotten to take my pain meds because I didn't need them. I had a total of four treatments and went back home to Tallahassee where I proceeded to be pain-free with normal bowel movements for the first time in years.
